JOHANNESBURG - The cost of the average food basket dropped by almost R50 in February.
That's according to the Pietermaritzburg Economic Justice & Dignity Group's latest affordability index.
But it warns this does not mean that food inflation is on the decline.

The group expects prices to increase again next month, especially with increases in fuel prices and toll fees.
"We are hoping this declining trend will continue," said Mervyn Abrahams.
"We've seen the declines happening in all the major cities of South Africa, so we are hoping this will continue."
