Concern over burnout among entrepreneurs

JOHANNESBURG - Entrepreneurs in the country are burnt out.

Property Point says this is due to Covid-19, the electricity crisis and rising costs.

It says many have been left depressed and there are serious consequences.

"What we've seen working with entrepreneurs is the total burnout and fatigue, high levels of depression setting in and high levels of anxiety in terms of the growth of their businesses," said Shawn Theunissen.

"Those have led to a lot of other challenges. We've seen a high level suicide rates going up in the country.

"Entrepreneurs are not immune into these challenges because typically as an entrepreneur, you have the faith of your business and all your employees in your hands and that's a lot of pressure," he said.

"We often say that the road of the entrepreneur is a lonely road because they're in the business by themselves and they have carry quite a lot of weight on their shoulders."
