JOHANNESBURG - South Africa’s biggest cement maker PPC is set to increase prices and warns that government must expedite its infrastructure programme.
The cement and construction industry has been banking on government’s infrastructure rollout since President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the plan in 2020.
PPC says revenue in South Africa and Botswana lifted 1.7 percent in its latest annual results which it will present later this month.
But volumes declined just under 6 percent.
PPC is also calling for the protection of the local cement market through the introduction of import tariffs.
