BLSA demands clarity on SA’s position on Russia

JOHANNESBURG - Business Leadership South Africa is asking government for clarity on our exact position on Russia.

That’s because while our government speaks about neutrality and being non-aligned, there is clear favouritism towards Russia in the governing party.

South Africa is the biggest beneficiary of the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act, which allows us to export many products -- duty free -- to the United States.

But that deal comes with conditions which we may have risked.

"Government needs to make clear whether an export permit has been granted to South Africa to apply arms to Russia," said BLSA's Busi Mavuso.
