JOHANNESBURG - The rush and excitement of previous Black Fridays seems to be over.
While there was some activity in stores as consumers looked to take advantage of sales, it was nothing unusual for a payday weekend.
Early opening times at the malls didn't result in a huge influx of people, with traffic only picking up later in the day.
Shorter lines could be attributed to the rise in online shopping.
Popular items this Black Friday coincide with the heatwave weekend.
Black Friday sales are expected to continue throughout the weekend, and in some instances, for the rest of the month.
