JOHANNESBURG - There has been no reported case of avian flu this year.
However, the industry is still recovering from the devastating 2023 outbreak.
Over six million birds had to be culled last year at a cost of at least R2-billion.
The SA Poultry Association says they are optimistic but are not counting their chickens before they hatch.
The association says it's working with the Agriculture Department on preventative measures.
