JOHANNESBURG - Food producer, Astral, has reported growth R10 billion a growth of 5.7 percent.
That is despite rolling blackouts, avian flu and inflation.
The company benefitted from higher feed prices, soaring raw material costs and high poultry selling prices.
Prices were hiked to recover some money lost to power outages and failing municipal infrastructure.
The Poultry Division, and in particular broiler operations saw major production disruptions.
The Feed Division increased profits due to internal sales growth and recovery of raw material costs.
