CAPE TOWN - Recently appointed Agriculture Minister, John Steenhuisen, has reiterated the sector's vital role in creating employment and growth in South Africa.
Delivering his department’s more than R16-billion budget vote speech in Parliament this week, Steenhuisen highlighted biosecurity and interventions to control plant health as areas for improvement.
His ministry also vows to work closely with the transport and Science & Innovation departments to create a favourable environment for producers.
