WATCH | Interest rate hikes put pressure on homeowners to sell

JOHANNESBURG - There has been an increase of homeowners selling their houses as the cost of living in the country rises rapidly.

This week the South African Reserve Bank will make another rate announcement which could determine the fate of many homeowners.

Market researcher Lightstone Property says there was an 80%  increase in homeowners forced to sell their homes within two years of purchase.

Speaking to property economist from FNB, Siphamandla Mkhwanazi, he says this week's SARB announcement cannot be predicted easily as a lot has changed in the past few months.
