DURBAN - Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has outlined measures being implemented to combat the construction mafia.

Mchunu says that, alongside specialised investigative teams, visible policing units and combat squads have been deployed at hotspot areas for regular patrols and crime prevention efforts to stabilise the situation and tackle the violence linked to these criminal networks.
At the same time, Public Works & Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson is calling for private-public partnerships to collapse the construction mafia.
He addressed the National Construction Summit on Crime-Free Construction Sites on Tuesday.
Macpherson says the summit is crucial to find solutions and take tough decisions against the syndicates.
