SARS auto assessments already in full swing
JOHANNESBURG - SARS has kicked off tax season, with auto-assessments for non-provisional taxpayers already in full swing and Filing Season starting in under two weeks.
The latter will continue until 21 October.
Provisional taxpayers have until 20 January 2025 to file.
Last year nearly 3.8 million people were auto-assessed by the revenue authority.
An auto-assessment is based on the data received from employers, financial institutions, medical schemes, retirement fund administrators, and other third-party data providers.
If you agree with your auto-assessment and qualify for a refund it will be automatically deposited into your chosen bank account.
eNCA spoke to the SARS Commissioner, Edward Kieswetter to elaborate more on this.
