CAPE TOWN - President Cyril Ramaphosa admits South Africa's mining sector faces several challenges but adds government is committed to turning this around.

Ramaphosa was speaking at this year's Investing in Mining Indaba taking place in Cape Town.
He says the sector faces geopolitical tensions and lower commodity prices.

On the local front, the sector has been dealt a number of blows, including the energy crisis, the water crisis and crippled logistics systems.
