JOHANNESBURG - It won't be the best start to February for car owners, as the month of love could kick off with substantial fuel price hikes.
According to the latest data from the Central Energy Fund, diesel prices may rise by more than one Rand per litre, while petrol could see an increase of around 90 cents per litre.
The under-recovery on illuminating paraffin is also nearing R1.
The primary drivers behind these increases are a weaker rand and rising oil prices.
The official fuel price announcement is still awaited, but the new rates are set to take effect on Wednesday, 5 February.
