JOHANNESBURG - Inflation went up to 5.9% in October, from 5.4% in September.
The main contributing factors were food, housing and transport costs.

Statistics South Africa released the latest inflation data on Wednesday.
The South African Reserve Bank's target band is between 3% and 6%.
The latest inflation data for October will be used by the Monetary Policy Committee to decide on interest rates, to be announced on Thursday.
