JOHANNESBURG - The South African Revenue Service says more taxes were collected this year compared to 2022.

According to tax figures, SARS collected a staggering R2.7tn in gross tax revenue in the 2022-2023 fiscal year. This is R183bn or 9.7% more than in the previous year.

eNCA spoke to tax expert Professor Keith Engel about what this means for the country.
