JOHANNESBURG - As South Africans face a surge in prepaid service fees and a proposed 10% tariff increase on solar panels, the affordability of electricity is under scrutiny.

The combination of higher prepaid service fees and potential tariff hikes on solar panels could  pose a substantial financial burden on South African households.

These measures may deter the adoption of solar energy solutions, which are crucial for reducing electricity costs in the long run.
