Whistleblowers in SA | Concerns about victimisation

JOHANNESBURG - There are growing calls for the protection of whistleblowers in South Africa.

Advocate Tseliso Thipanyane says many whistleblowers continue to be victimised and persecuted for their selfless and patriotic acts.

The former SA Human Rights Commission CEO has penned an open letter to Justice Minister Ronald Lamola, calling for more to be done.

''It's very sad and unfortunate that people like Babita [Deokaran] and many others continue to be victimised, who are doing a very honourable work.

"Despite commitment by government to fight corruption, we still have no adequate protection, they're victimised especially those in the public sector."
