SA Energy Crisis Committee expects power cuts to ease

JOHANNESBURG - Energy analyst Roger Lilley says solving the country's worsening energy crisis is at the mercy of political will.

The National Energy Crisis Committee expects blackouts to ease following the announcement of a raft of measures to address record-breaking power cuts.

Among the concerns, though, are whether the country's notoriously unreliable infrastructure will be able to keep up once the red tape is lifted.

Several law firms and politicians are planning to take Eskom to court over the breach of obligation to provide electricity.
