JOHANNESBURG - Civil society groups are strongly against the Treasury's decision to exempt Eskom from the Public Finance Management Act.
This will mean the power utility will not need to declare irregular, fruitless, and wasteful expenditure in its financial statements.

Now, Transnet has been granted the same exemption.
Treasury argues that the move will help the two state-owned enterprises' credit outlook.
