JOHANNESBURG - Legal expert Elton Hart says the high profile Senzo Meyiwa murder trial could be dogged by even more delays should a new judge take over.
He following the latest postponement to 17 July due to the presiding judge falling ill.
Hart said, "a lot of people: at this stage we had about four people testified among the seven that were in the house, but if the accused person can show that the new judge might be prejudicial. They might bring an application for a substitute judge and for the trial to start afresh."
"I am not saying it is going to happen but that is a possibility."
"The new person can look at the new evidence but that will delay the matter extensively and that might open door for accused to bring bail."
