JOHANNESBURG - Wits University’s International Relations expert John Stremlau says the relations between South Africa and the US can survive the current rough patch.
It comes after US Ambassador Reuben Brigety accused the country of selling weapons to Russia.
He's since apologised and admitted he crossed the line by not using diplomatic channels to voice his concerns.

Stremlau says the two nations need to work together to restore diplomatic ties.
"I think this relation can survive this rough patch, it will be difficult it will take work from both sides, they should prepare themselves to work at it,” he said.
