JOHANNESBURG - The ANC government has still not figured out how to run the economy, says economist Duma Gcubule.
He was reacting to the latest employment figures that show 21,000 jobs were lost in the first quarter.
Gcubule says the recovery after COVID-19 is losing momentum.
"We have not yet reached in terms of employment on both sets of statistics where we were at the start of the pandemic," he says.
"So, I think there is a dismal failure by the government to get their heads around the whole issue as to how to manage this economy and create jobs," he adds.
Gcubela says that the ANC government has failed to figure what it takes to run an economy, and the second largest in economy in Africa.
