JOHANNESBURG - Coalition governments are characterised by conflict and mismanagement, according to political analyst Levy Ndou.
He says coalition governments have proved to be unstable.
“It is the character of coalitions in the metros in South Africa which are characterized by instability, conflict and mismanagement.
"It is not something new. It is something that has been happening in Nelson Mandela, in Joburg, Ekurhuleni and many other councils are going to follow," Ndou said.
"What we have observed in the City of Tshwane appears to be the repeat of what has happened in the City of Joburg.

"The Democratic Alliance appears to be having challenges in leading coalitions that is why, as they continue with their coalitions.
"They actually lose support, and other parties outside the coalitions take advantage of the challenges of the Democratic Alliance led coalitions has, and they take over power," Ndou said.
"It has happened in Johannesburg, it has happened in Tshwane. The possibility is that, it is going to happen that way and it is going to happen like that, and it has actually started in Ehurkhuleni."
