JOHANNESBURG - Former president Thabo Mbeki has lashed out at the ANC for defending President Cyril Ramaphosa on the Phala Phala matter.
In a letter leaked to the public, Mbeki suggests the party used its majority in Parliament to vote against any investigations into the Phala Phala saga.
Political analyst Susan Booysen weighs in on the matter.
"The issues that Mbeki raises in this 17-page letter are very well ventilated," Booysen said.
"The points that Thabo Mbeki are raising are very visible to the electorate."
Meanwhile, ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula said the party will engage Mbeki and listen to his concerns.
"The national officials will discuss the letter and seek an audience with former president," Mbalula said.
