My Election, My Story | Leaving a legacy for future generations
JOHANNESBURG - Schaapkraal is situated in the Philippi Horticultural Area of Cape Town, which plays a crucial role as the city’s bread basket.
It covers about 3,000 hectares and provides 80-percent - that’s 200,000 tons - of Cape Town’s vegetables.
One of the people working in the area is award-winning farmer, Wadea Jappie.
As first-generation farmers, Jappie, her husband Achmat Brinkhuis and their sons aim to leave a legacy for the future.
As part of eNCA’s My Election, My Story series, reporter Ayesha Ismail spoke to Jappie about her journey in a democratic South Africa.
