PRETORIA - President Jacob Zuma has reiterated his controversial Cabinet reshuffle was the right move.

He says it's an investment in young leaders.

Speaking at the Trans-Africa locomotive launch outside Pretoria, Zuma said the changes will bring renewed energy to the executive.

He’s shunned public criticism around the reshuffle, saying it's creating confusion.

ANC alliance partners -- the SACP and Cosatu -- are upset about it, especially former Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy Mcebisi Jonas being given the boot.

But Zuma says the Finance Ministry’s policy orientation remains the same.

He commended both the outgoing and new Finance Ministers for their maturity in leadership, and the smooth transition.

The president says treasury's overall policy remains the same, despite the change in leadership.
