The company has over 5,000 employees and is retrenching over 3,700.
The retrenchments are a part of its restructuring, following last month's approval of its business rescue process.
The employees' severance packages includes one week's severance pay, a month's notice period, a 13th cheque as well as leave paid out.
Affected employees include ground staff, pilots, cabin crew, as well as management staff.
