DPE probes officials implicated in unlawful conduct

JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Public Enterprises has initiated internal processes and investigations against officials implicated in irregular or unlawful conduct.

This follows evidence at the State Capture Inquiry which revealed political interference in SOEs like Transnet, Eskom, Denel, and SAA.

The department has contracted several forensic companies to investigate.

Some of the matters include tender irregularities, corruption, and the unlawful distribution of confidential government information.

The DPE says it has placed some officials on precautionary suspension.
