JOHANNESBURG - Mediclinic says it's experiencing high volumes of COVID-19 patients in its healthcare facilities.
The group operates 48 hospitals and 11 clinics across the country.
It says the number of admitted patients exceeds the peak of the first wave by 75-100 percent.
ICU beds and ventilators have experienced the biggest strain.
High care, ICU beds and ventilators are fully occupied in many Mediclinic hospitals.
The Group says the situation has stabilised in some parts of the Western Cape but hospital admissions remain high.
Mediclinic has also terminated elective surgery at hospitals under pressure.
