JOHANNESBURG - The lockdown has had a devastating impact on most businesses, but it's left Spar on a positive footing.

The retailer posted strong annual results, with an 8.1 percent hike in its final dividend.

The group's revenue jumped by 13-and-a-half percent.

Shares surged after the results were released, putting it on track for its best day in eight months.

But it's not all good news. 

The group says its profits took a knock due to the alcohol ban.
