WATCH | Expert says Joburg Mayor's speech failed to touch on city finances

 

Johannesburg Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda waxed lyrical about the city when delivering his State of the City address on Thursday. 

Without referring to anything specific event or situation, the mayor says Johannesburg represents resilience.

 

 

Local government expert, Miyelani Holeni, says while strides have been made to keep the city of Johannesburg together, more needs to be done to address challenges such as infrastructure.

Gwamanda discussed initiatives to improve water security, power supply and road maintenance, and hailed the city for its resilience.

However, Holeni says his speech failed to touch on the city's finances.
