JOHANNESBURG - South Africa's Information Regulator has released new rules for how political parties and candidates can use voters' personal information.
They must only use information that voters have given them directly with consent, not data from brokers or lead generators.
Politicians are also required to protect any personal information they have collected, and use it for campaign purposes only.
This aligns with the Protection of Personal Information Act No. 4 of 2013.
For more insight on this we are joined by Adv Pansy Tlakula, the Chairperson of the Regulator.
