Discussion | Djokovic beats Alcaraz to claim the gold

JOHANNESBURG - It has taken 5 Olympic games but Novak Djokovic has finally realised his dream.

The record 24-time Grand Slam champion is now also an Olympic champion.

The Serb beat Carlos Alcaraz in straight on Court Phillipe Chartier to claim the gold.

His previous best effort at the Games was a bronze in Beijing 2008.

Djokovic has now become the 5th player after Steffi Graf, Andre Aggasi, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams to win a golden slam, which is all four Grand Slams and Olympic gold.
