May 2 – The Public Protector’s discretion to investigate any complaints she sees fit has come under fire in Parliament.  In a heated exchange, MPs insisted that they have right to interrogate the validity of specific investigations.

In a heated exchange, MPs insisted that they have right to interrogate the validity of specific investigations.

But Madonsela was having none of it. She said it was her constitutional right to investigate any cases without any interference from Parliament.

Watchhings get tense in Parliament when MPs question whether Thuli Madonsela wasted her time and resources by investigating some of her recent cases.
