President Cyril Ramaphosa has noted the resignation of Jabu Mabuza as Eskom chairperson.
JOHANNESBURG - Eskom board chairperson Jabu Mabuza has resigned.
Mabuza used his resignation to apologise for Eskom's inability to meet power demand.
President Cyril Ramaphosa's office confirmed the resignation.
Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan accepted the resignation.
Ramaphosa expressed gratitude to Mabuza for his service to the nation during a "challenging period".
The president further commended Mabuza for taking responsibility and accepting accountability for the events that took place under his leadership.
The Presidency stated they would soon announce a re-configured Eskom board.
ANC chairperson Gwede Mantashe doesn't believe the board should be held solely to blame for all of Eskom's power generating problems.
