Eastern Cape government teams up with industry heavyweight

GQEBERHA - The Eastern Cape government says it is eager to promote the province as the country's cannabis industry hub.

Premier Oscar Mabuyane and Rural Development and Agrarian Reform MEC, Nonkqubela Pieters announced a new partnership that could create thousands of jobs.

Mabuyane has described the new cannabis investment as groundbreaking.

Over the next five years, R1-billion will be ploughed in, with 30,000 job opportunities made available.

Mabuyane says cannabis production will be used as a vehicle to grow the economy of a province where access to job opportunities is worrying.
