M1 north opened after underground cable fire

JOHANNESBURG - The M1 north has been reopened and Joburg Emergency Services expects the entire highway to open to traffic by Wednesday night.

This comes after underground City Power cables caught fire in the Joburg CBD.

Several suburbs have been left without power.

Emergency Management Spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi, says City Power and Joburg Roads Agency can begin their assessments of the damage.
